Important Sins and Teachings in Islam
1. Shirk – Associating Partners with Allah
The greatest sin in Islam is shirk, associating someone with Allah in His essence or attributes. Worship, prayer, sacrifice, and prostration belong only to Allah. Whoever commits shirk falls into severe misguidance and will not be forgiven unless he sincerely repents.
2. Holding Hatred, Jealousy, and Malice
Keeping envy, hatred, jealousy, or hostility in the heart without a valid reason is a major sin. Being jealous of someone’s house, business, job, or success is called hasad (envy), which Islam strongly forbids.
3. Separating from the Community of Truth
A person who knowingly leaves the path of truth or separates himself from the righteous community is in a dangerous state. If someone abandons faith or refuses to follow the truth, forgiveness is not granted until he returns and repents.
4. Persisting in Evil Without Repentance
A person who continues committing sins and refuses to repent keeps his matter suspended before Allah. Forgiveness comes only when a person sincerely repents and corrects his actions.
5. Breaking Family Ties
Islam commands believers to maintain family relationships. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The one who severs family ties will not enter Paradise.”
Creating conflicts among relatives, spreading hatred, or breaking relationships is a grave sin.
6. Rights of Parents
After the rights of Allah, the rights of parents are among the greatest in Islam.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The pleasure of Allah lies in the pleasure of the parents, and the displeasure of Allah lies in the displeasure of the parents.”
Even if parents are harsh or unfair, children must still show respect and kindness.
7. Dishonesty in Business
A trader who hides defects in goods and lies to customers commits a serious sin. Islam requires honesty in trade. Deception in business removes blessings from wealth.
8. Disrespect Between Husband and Wife
Marriage requires respect and good character. The Prophet ﷺ warned against insulting or humiliating one’s spouse. A wife should not insult her husband, and a husband must treat his wife with kindness and justice.
9. Alcohol and Intoxicants
Alcohol is called “Umm al-Khaba’ith” (the mother of all evils) because it leads to many other sins. Any intoxicating substance that affects the mind is strictly forbidden in Islam.
10. Murder of a Believer
The Qur’an warns severely about killing an innocent believer. Such a person may face punishment in Hell for a very long time. Forgiveness requires sincere repentance and reconciliation with the victim’s family, including payment of Diyah (blood compensation) if accepted.
11. Fortune-Telling and Palm Reading
Islam strictly forbids going to fortune tellers or palm readers. Only Allah knows the unseen. According to hadith, the prayer of a person who consults fortune tellers may not be accepted for forty days.
12. Practicing Magic or Sorcery
Magic (sihr) is a grave sin. A magician who harms people through sorcery spreads corruption. Forgiveness is not granted until the person abandons this practice and sincerely repents.
13. Introducing Wrong Religious Practices
Introducing practices into religion that are not part of Islam is strongly condemned. The Prophet ﷺ warned that innovations in religion that contradict the Qur’an and Sunnah lead people astray.
14. Allah’s Mercy and Opportunity for Repentance
Despite the seriousness of these sins, Allah’s mercy is vast. The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah becomes very pleased when His servant repents. In the last third of the night, Allah calls His servants to seek forgiveness, showing that the door of repentance always remains open.
1۔ شرک (اللہ کے ساتھ شریک ٹھہرانا)
اسلام میں سب سے بڑا گناہ شرک ہے۔ یعنی اللہ کی ذات یا صفات میں کسی کو شریک ٹھہرانا۔ عبادت، نماز، سجدہ، قربانی اور ہر قسم کی بندگی صرف اللہ کے لیے ہے۔ جو شخص شرک کرتا ہے وہ بڑی گمراہی میں پڑ جاتا ہے اور جب تک سچی توبہ نہ کرے اس کی بخشش نہیں ہوتی۔
2۔ حسد، بغض اور کینہ رکھنا
کسی انسان کے دل میں حسد، بغض، کینہ یا دشمنی رکھنا بہت بڑا گناہ ہے۔ کسی کے گھر، گاڑی، کاروبار یا نوکری کو دیکھ کر جلنا حسد کہلاتا ہے۔ اسلام میں اس کی سخت ممانعت ہے اور مؤمن کو اپنا دل صاف رکھنا چاہیے۔
3۔ اہلِ حق کی جماعت سے الگ ہونا
جو شخص حق کو جانتے ہوئے بھی اہلِ حق کی جماعت سے الگ ہو جائے یا دین سے دور ہو جائے وہ خطرناک راستے پر چل پڑتا ہے۔ اگر کوئی ایمان چھوڑ دے یا مرتد ہو جائے تو جب تک وہ توبہ کر کے واپس نہ آئے اس کی بخشش نہیں ہوتی۔
4۔ گناہوں پر قائم رہنا اور توبہ نہ کرنا
جو شخص مسلسل گناہ کرتا رہے اور توبہ نہ کرے اس کا معاملہ اللہ کے ہاں معلق رہتا ہے۔ مرد ہو یا عورت، جب تک سچی توبہ اور اصلاح نہ کرے اس کی مغفرت نہیں ہوتی۔
5۔ رشتہ داری توڑنا
اسلام میں رشتہ داری جوڑنے کا حکم دیا گیا ہے۔
رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:
“رشتہ داری توڑنے والا جنت میں داخل نہیں ہوگا۔”
جو لوگ خاندانوں میں نفرتیں پھیلاتے ہیں اور تعلقات توڑتے ہیں وہ بڑا گناہ کرتے ہیں۔
6۔ والدین کے حقوق
اللہ کے بعد والدین کے حقوق سب سے بڑے ہیں۔
رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:
“اللہ کی رضا والدین کی رضا میں ہے اور اللہ کی ناراضی والدین کی ناراضی میں ہے۔”
اگر والدین سختی بھی کریں تو بھی اولاد کو ان کے ساتھ ادب اور خدمت کا رویہ رکھنا چاہیے۔
7۔ تجارت میں دھوکہ دینا
جو تاجر سامان کا عیب چھپا کر بیچتا ہے اور جھوٹ بولتا ہے وہ بڑا گناہ کرتا ہے۔ اسلام میں تجارت میں دیانت اور سچائی کو بہت اہمیت دی گئی ہے۔ دھوکہ دینے والے کی کمائی میں برکت نہیں ہوتی۔
8۔ میاں بیوی کے درمیان بد اخلاقی
ازدواجی زندگی احترام اور اچھے اخلاق پر قائم ہوتی ہے۔
بیوی کو چاہیے کہ شوہر کی عزت کرے اور شوہر کو چاہیے کہ بیوی کے ساتھ نرمی اور انصاف کا برتاؤ کرے۔
9۔ شراب اور نشہ آور چیزیں
شراب کو “امّ الخبائث” (تمام برائیوں کی ماں) کہا گیا ہے کیونکہ اس سے بہت سی برائیاں پیدا ہوتی ہیں۔ ہر وہ چیز جو عقل کو خراب کرے اور انسان کو نشہ میں مبتلا کرے اسلام میں حرام ہے۔
10۔ کسی مؤمن کا قتل
قرآن مجید میں کسی مؤمن کو ناحق قتل کرنے پر سخت وعید آئی ہے۔ ایسا شخص بہت بڑے گناہ کا مرتکب ہوتا ہے۔ اس گناہ سے بچنے کے لیے قاتل کو توبہ، کفارہ اور مقتول کے خاندان سے صلح یا دیت ادا کرنا ضروری ہے۔
11۔ قسمت بتانے والوں کے پاس جانا
اسلام میں نجومیوں، فال نکالنے والوں اور ہاتھ کی لکیریں دیکھنے والوں کے پاس جانا منع ہے۔
حدیث میں آیا ہے کہ جو شخص ایسے لوگوں کے پاس جاتا ہے اس کی چالیس دن تک نماز قبول نہیں ہوتی۔
12۔ جادو کرنا
جادو کرنا یا جادو کے ذریعے لوگوں کو نقصان پہنچانا بہت بڑا گناہ ہے۔ جادوگر جب تک اپنے اس عمل سے سچی توبہ نہ کرے اس کی مغفرت نہیں ہوتی۔
13۔ دین میں نئی رسمیں شامل کرنا
دین میں ایسی رسمیں یا اعمال شامل کرنا جو قرآن و سنت میں ثابت نہیں بدعت کہلاتا ہے۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ایسی چیزوں سے سختی سے منع فرمایا ہے۔
14۔ اللہ کی رحمت اور توبہ کا دروازہ
ان تمام گناہوں کے باوجود اللہ کی رحمت بہت وسیع ہے۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ اللہ اپنے بندے کی توبہ سے بہت خوش ہوتا ہے۔ رات کے آخری حصے میں اللہ بندوں کو پکارتا ہے کہ کون ہے جو مجھ سے مغفرت مانگے۔
