In a serious development during the By-poll Assembly Elections in the Nagrota constituency, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, to initiate stringent action against Sunil Jasrotia, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), City South Jammu, for allegedly assaulting and unlawfully detaining a government officer on election duty.
According to the official communication forwarded by the District Magistrate (District Election Officer), Jammu, SDPO Jasrotia allegedly physically assaulted and wrongfully detained Azhar Khan, Block Development Officer (BDO) Nagrota, who was appointed as Nodal Officer for Transport Management for the by-poll elections.

The Divisional Commissioner noted that the alleged misconduct not only disrupted the election process but also caused “immense harm to the dignity of a Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service Officer.”
The Divisional Commissioner has formally requested the Jammu Zone IGP to take immediate and strict disciplinary and criminal action against the SDPO.
Copies of the communication have been sent to senior authorities including the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home), Chief Electoral Officer, District Magistrate, and SSP Jammu for necessary action and monitoring.
